





James H. Voyles
Mr. Voyles focuses his practice in criminal defense law defending major felony cases at both the State and Federal levels, as well as representing individuals before licensing boards, which deal with physicians, attorneys and other professionals.
Mr. Voyles received his BS degree from Illinois College and his JD degree from Indiana University School of Law and was admitted to practice in 1968. Since that time, Mr. Voyles has served as counsel in many counties in the State of Indiana, and has represented clients in the States of Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, Montana, Pennsylvania, Florida and New Jersey.
Mr. Voyles is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Northern and Southern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
Mr. Voyles is an active member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, having served as Vice President in 2005 and 2007, and will be President of the Association in 2009. Mr. Voyles is also an active member in both the American Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association. He has been named a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, is a member of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, and a Board Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
Mr. Voyles is a member of the Indiana Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee, and a former member of the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Race and Gender.
Mr. Voyles is a Trustee of Illinois College and is a member of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
Mr. Voyles is rated AV by the Martindale and Hubble Law Directory and is listed in Woodward White’s book ‘The Best Lawyers in America’ from 1985 to present, in the area of criminal law.
Mr. Voyles has lectured for several organizations including the Indianapolis Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Institute of Trial Advocacy and public defender programs.
